"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another . . . We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed . . . That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness . . . But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

We live in a world where 'Hot Air' rules. The more hot air the better. The beautiful picture of a hundred or thousand colorful hot air balloons exemplifies our allure to this. But all this hot air costs a ton of money.
Every hot air balloon must, at some time, come back down to Earth and actually live in and deal with the real world. We are drawn into the facade of the multitude of hot air balloons as representing reality. This is all done on a daily basis through media coverage mainly of hot air balloons.
Trouble is the longer the balloons stay in the air the greater the danger of their bubble bursting or crash landing when the ballon runs out if air. Plus how useful are hot air balloons? They make for an interesting spectacle at a sporting event and maybe can display a few ads.
Yes they can provide a perspective from up high, but so can satellites and planes. But a complete perspective requires a view from the stadium box, sideline and from on the field.
The balloons have become the main attraction, rather than just a tool for better perspective, to display an ad or to be a form of art when presented in mass. But those on the field and in the stadium are the main event.
We need our leaders to be those able to devise a strategy, plans and plays that will produce results that benefit all in the stadium. This requires the humble and objective pursuit of talent and innovators by management and execution by the team and coaches to produce Moneyball like results. We need such leadership, rather than rising to the top via spewing a bunch of hot air. Ominously, and perhaps aligned symbolically, like Zeppelins that filled the skies in Germany as Hitler rose to power, so do we see hot air balloons ruling the skies: our media, positions of power and culture.
